Can I please ask how long will you be there at NZ??? Which city are you going? If you want to travel around NZ, your best travelling guide is “Lonely Planet New Zealand.”



Mara, together with his housemate Michael, visited NZ for about 10 days in early 2001. We went to Auckland then transited to the South Island. We drove around the island and we spent most of our time at Dunedin, Christchurch, Queenstown and many other places. My experience is:-



AUCKLAND: capital city. Most of the jobs are there.

DUNEDIN: University of Dunedin is the eldest university of the country. It is a lovely university to study at. Mara was once considering doing a graduated Mb-ChB at that time.

CHRISTCHURCH is the biggest city at Sth Island.

QUEENSTOWN: the most vibrant dynamic city Mara ever visited. You should do at least some of the following:-

Bungee Jump: Mara did his first Bungee Jump there at Queenstown. The experience is very scary; however, it is a very sweet memory after all these years.

Glacier Walk and Rafting: Mara’s Brother, Charles, tried both. He said it is a waste to visit NZ without going to those two. This makes Mara very keen to re-visit NZ later in the future.



Overall speaking, NZ is a very lovely country to live in. Mara is keen to save some money and retire there later when advanced in age. Hopefully buy a house at Queenstown and do some tourism business.



By the way, Michael has a Doctor of Education (DEd) and is an English Teacher at one of Taipei’s Public High School. His job at Taiwan is considered as a wonderful one; however, he is quitting and is migrating to NZ by end of this month. How attractive NZ is!!! Mara ^__^
